Men buy into this paradigm because they see it at work in real life despite the contrary depicted in popular culture. In every film and television show, the nice guy gets the girl. Men do not see this in the dating scene. We see women go off with a bad boy for a one night stand.
As I have written before, nice guys do not wait around forever and we will not settle for settling.
