Men like to know where they stand with women. If a man thinks that a woman may have feelings for him, even if he does reciprocate them, he wants to be sure. He may try to make the woman jealous just to see if she will.
If a man finds out you have feelings for him then he can respond accordingly. If he does not share those feelings then he can be more aware and take more care with his deeds. If he does then he can move forward post haste.
Keep in mind that making a woman jealous is an act of last resort. If you openly and clearly state where you stand, then men will not do this.
Any male that knowingly makes you jealous is a jerk. That is to say that he knows how you feel and does it specifically to elicit a reaction from you.
