A Gamer Is Not A Gamer Is Not A Gamer

There is an old adage that all things are the same.  A house is a house is a house.  It is not true for most things least of all, men.  Previously, I have written about a woman who dumped a man because he played a fantasy card game.  Her initial disinterest due to the fact he was a gamer may or may not confirmed the pre-conceived notions that she had about gamers.

Regardless of if they play fantasy card games, role playing games, or video games all gamers are not the same even within their genre.  Some are super hardcore and their lives revolve around the game and various gatherings be they real or virtual.

Gaming should be viewed as just another hobby.  If it is coming between your relationship or even your potential relationship, then it is a problem.  Just because he is into gaming does not mean that he socially awkward and/or completely obsessed with the game.

Men need "guy time" and sometimes that will include women for those who enjoy gaming.  As much as I would like give you comfort that the women involved in gaming fit into the category of incredibly socially awkward and homely, that is not the case.  They run the gamut of strikingly attractive to aforementioned type.  They are not unlike the general population.

I own not only a gaming computer, but also a few video game consoles.  In fact, part of the draw of my cell phone was that it has high quality video games.  That said, I may occasionally play marathon sessions of a game when I have nothing better to do.  Better things to do include going to the Farmers' Market, grabbing coffee with friends, and various other social events.  A friend of mine who could possibly fit into the hardcore gaming category, his only interaction with video games since getting a steady romantic entanglement revolves around his job as a marketing executive for the video game industry.
