Why Men Take Showers Instead Of Baths

The long and short of it is quite simple. The average adult male frame is too big for the average bath tub. Men fit quite comfortably in soaker tubs, however those are mostly found in higher end homes.

I do not know of a single adult male that would not like to come home after a long day at work and sit in a nice relaxing bath while watching something entertaining on television. It just does not happen, that is all.

I hear a lot of talk about how showers save time and money. That is true. When time is a factor anyone regardless of sex will take a shower rather than a bath. Do a lot of people really think about their water bill? I do not know a lot people that do unless they are tight on money, the bill is high, and/or they are a conservationist. Men do not think to themselves "A shower will cost me 15 cents and a bath will cost me 35, so I better save that 20 cents."

Then there is the argument that baths are not manly. Sports figures, who are regarded as very manly, generally take a bath after a long game if they got a lot of playing time. Their tubs do not look a thing like what are found in most homes, however they are bath tubs. Men enjoy hot tubs the same as women. I know of no man whose manhood has been called into question based solely on the fact that he owned a hot tub.

America has a massive obesity problem which only serves to exacerbate the issue of men showering instead of bathing. So if he would not fit into a tub if he was of moderate weight there is no way he is going to fit into a tub being overweight.

Men simply do not take baths because of the size issue that occurs with most tubs. Truth be told, a lot of showers are too small for many men. The remedy to the situation is relatively simple. Installing a hand held shower head is quicker and less expensive than replacing a regular tub with a soaker tub. It is not a perfect solution. It is, however, a livable one.
