Online Dating Profiles And Faith

Online dating and matchmaking sites give you questions to answer about yourself so that your potential match can better assess whether he wants to date you.  Answer all the questions.  And answer them in a way that is unique.  Questions like "What is your single greatest passion?" deserve one answer and expounding on it.  Try to find a different way to answer a question that will make you stand out.  If you are passionate about working with children, then put "working with children" instead of "children" because it sounds like your biological clock is ticking VERY loudly.

A lot of women that I have been matched up with on a matchmaking site have said that they are very passionate about their faith.  While, this is awesome it is also kind of a given... based on the criteria that I have laid out for the site.  A response like "Besides my faith, I am very passionate about..." is a great way to get a man's attention.  If you are going to talk about your faith then narrow down on a specific area of your faith that you are most passionate about be it local missions, foreign missions, Bible study, mentoring, working with shut-ins, visiting, singing, etc.

If the site asks you to talk about one person who has been most influential outside of your parents, then find someone who has been influential outside of your parents.  Men have to fill out this profile, too, so we know what the question says.  If you cannot come up with an answer outside of your parents... ideally someone from outside your family, then maybe you are not ready for a relationship.

While you may be very devoted to your faith (and this is coming from someone who is very devoted to his faith) do not answer every question Jesus/Family/Friends.  If you have answered that your faith is what you are most passionate about then do not put Jesus as your most influential person and/or as one of the 3 things you are most thankful for and/or 5 things you cannot live without.  You can say that you are thankful for "Jesus, family, and friends" as one item and "The Bible" as something that you cannot live without, however make sure that your passion is something other than going on about your faith.

Faith is supremely important, however if it all your profile talks about then you are really an one-note person even if you happen to be a missionary or minister.
