I notice a lot of women wear rings. It may be a single ring or quite a few. If one of them remotely looks like an engagement ring or wedding band, then most men will stay away. This regardless of which finger or hand it is on. Most men are not aware of which finger is for wearing such a ring.
So if you are looking to repel a man, just wear a ring. There are some guys that will hit on you regardless, so it does not protect against the less desirables.
